Coronary angiogram

Hi - Janmat back again! Had my coronary angiogram and all went well although the aftermath wasn’t great! Couldn’t stop the bleeding and I have ended up with a very, very bruised hand and arm from the pressure involved 🥴. Good news is though the angiogram showed that the damage to my heart is not as bad as shown in the original scans 😃. Still going to need surgery of some sort so waiting on that decision now. Didn’t have much of a chance to talk to the Consultant in any depth but they gave me a copy of the letter sent to the Cardiac Surgeons which I didn’t read until I got home and the strange thing is at no point did he mention a problem with the aortic valve, just artery problems which ranged from mild to severe! I am still totally asymptomatic so still really no idea what’s going on, but at least it’s moving forward now. Just a waiting game 🫤

Sounds positive, have you got another appointment with the consultant?

Hi - The Cardiac Consultant I see in Cornwall is not a surgeon, the surgery is done in a Devon hospital. My angiogram results have been forwarded to the surgeons in Devon so am just waiting for their decision as to what they want to do. Apparently, they have meetings to make these decisions and I’m not sure how often these happen - maybe once a month? Hopefully, I won’t have long to wait 🤞🏻x

They are called multidisciplinary meetings (MDT).they usually have them once a week . They will make the right decision for you. I hope you are not too anxious, I found that when I finally knew what they were going to do, all my anxiety went away.

Thank you for your reply. I think the ‘not knowing’ is the anxious part. As you say, when I know what they are going to do I’ll feel much better about it all. 😀

I have today seen the consultant cardiologist. He said I have aortic stenosis and will arrange for me to have a coronary angiogram. Apparently it's done as a day surgery. He said probably a 3 month wait.

After you had yours -did it help to stop the breathlessness please?

Hope you're feeling OK now.

Hi - no, my coronary angiogram was just an investigative procedure to assess the damage to my heart and what surgery I will need - went home the same day. I am asymptomatic so I’m afraid I don’t know if it will help with your breathlessness. I do hope you don’t have to wait too long - it is a painless procedure. I’m fine now thanks x
