Car indicator ticker

I've just joined so I apologise if this has been discussed before. I have moderate hearing loss and have worn hearing aids for over 15 years. A vehicle I drive regularly, a VW Transporter van, has an indicator ticker so quiet I often cannot hear it over other vehicle noises. The lights on the dashboard help but in busy traffic conditions I would really like to have an audible reminder as well. A VW main dealer couldn't suggest a solution. Does anyone reading this have one?

On the day I was fitted with hearing aids, the sound of the indicator was very surprising, even though I had been warned of this! I regularly drive a VW Caddy and it hasn't been a problem hearing the indicator. With my aids it is relatively easy to adjust the frequency volumes. I also have a number of programmes that I can select. Assuming the clicker noise is relatively high frequency, can you increase the volume of that frequency? Also presumably you have had regular check-ups and replaced your aids in that period? Your hearing will have deteriorated whilst technology has improved.

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. I know my NHS hearing aids can be tuned for different frequencies but I don't know how to do it myself. I'll ask about that next time my hearing aids are reviewed (something that hasn't happened for 3 years due to the pandemic). Interestingly, there isn't a problem with another vehicle from the VW stable that I drive regularly, a Skoda Octavia. The ticker on that is really loud.

We had our local service agent increase the indicator noise on our Hymer motorhome which was on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis

That's interesting. Do you know how your service agent did that? Did they replace a component, or was there some adjustment that they could make?

I think there was just an adjustment as they made it too loud and we had to ask them to turn it down a bit.
