Would wearing a mask with elasticated ear loops affect my tinnitus and meneares, they both seem to have got worse over the last few weeks as the loops are pulling my ears forward

Face masks and tinnitus and meneares
You try wearing a mask that has elastic that goes around your full head, or there are spacer bars you can buy online that allow you to loop the face mask/covering through the bar than the ear itself.
Thanks for that, but would wearing an elasticated mask affect my tinnitis and meneares that have got noticably worse over the last few weeks.
Our volunteers at Hearing Link are experienced in managing hearing loss, tinnitus and much more. If you are able to contact us, we can put you in touch with the right person to answer your question. I can’t believe an elasticated mask would make tinnitus worse - it doesn’t with mine. I agree wearing masks with strong elastic is difficult with hearing aids - I’ve found that a face covering with softer loops (with a small bit of elasticity) work better for me as they don’t bend my ears forward or get tangled in my hearing aids. I don’t have Ménière’s disease so can’t say re that - but can’t see how it would make it worse as it’s a disease of the inner ear. Perhaps speak to your GP if your symptoms have got worse?
Unfortunately as I work for the NHS I have to wear what's issued to me.
As you work for the NHS I wonder if it’s stress making your tinnitus and Meniere’s worse? It’s a very difficult time for NHS workers at the mo.
