You could work in admin answering email and web queries. Telephone queries are reducing as so much is done by email nowadays. Prospective employers should take your deafness into account as a disability and make allowance for it.
Thanks .... thank you for your thoughts and you are right with everything you said !! New to looking for employment with hearing issue.. hopefully that is the case with the employers.
I do also find headphones really help with phone calls, particularly if you can turn up the volume on them a bit. I've got one that plugs into the phone. Many office phones have jack points for them now for conference calls.
Hate phones too! I have an Oticon streamer which does make the phone easier. It works with my NHS Oticon hearing aids - although it isn't without its quirks. Mark S idea of answering email/web chat is a good one. I worked in Education and found it increasingly difficult to hear what the children were saying so hearing loss affects most jobs to some degree.
Due to my hearing, balance issues, my work contract was eventually terminated in 2013. Since then I have volunteered in my community, with a hope it would lead to a paid job, but this is now becoming more difficult as communication is becoming harder. As a consequence I decided to contact local Deaf Society with a view to volunteering there and to find out what is available for me. I just don’t want to give up, good luck in your next move.
