Smear Test
Hi dawn - as you haven’t got a cervix I wouldn’t think you need a cervical smear!!! I would correct the people who have contacted you. X
I too have been told that after a full abdominal hysterectomy there is absolutely no need for one ever again. Perhaps it’s something that was automatically generated.
My gynecologist said I will still need the test. They do a smear of the vaginal vault as you can still get cancer there from hpv. Women who have had a hysterectomy are at increased risk of vaginal cancer. It depends on your history though. If you have been vaccinated for hpv and have never tested positive for it youd be ok to skip the smear.
Hi
I had a total hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy.
My gynaecologist told me that I wouldn't need a smear, and my GP has echoed this.
I received invitations for my 3 yearly smears and contacted them to explain why I didn't need a smear. They replied and told me that my GP had to complete a form, or tick a box on my records and this would stop me receiving invites and reminders.
My GP has done this.
Good luck 🙂
This happened you me. You don’t need a smear. Just let them know and they will remove you from their list
Ive been to my doctors and as you have said someone has forgotten to tick a box and i definitely dont need a smear. Thanks all x
I had a full hysterectomy 11 years ago and was told I didn't need anymore smear tests, I was in hospital last week and one of the drs said I should have been having vaginal wall tests
i will check again with my gp thanks
