Hi,
I would recommend any strength but,in particular sipping peppermint tea also helps.Plus, you are hydrating at the same time.As soon as I was back from the recovery room I drank tonnes of water/peppermint tea.It really helped to flush everything out plus, gets your waterworks moving again!
I had a total robotic hysterectomy. They began op at 08.30 and I was discharged to go home that same day at 6.30pm.I really recommend buying a spray called Chloreseptic for your throat...it was a lifesaver! You may find it’s a little sore.
Do hope all goes well for you, as I’m sure it will.
Please feel free to ask any questions, I’d be very happy to help.
Best wishes Clare
May I ask, how bad was your pain?
Hi Margie,
To be honest the first 2-3 days are a bit rough but, mainly due to the anaesthetic.Pain wasn’t too bad and they look after you so well.
I suffered more with nausea than anything else and I’ll take that over pain any day.
Everyone of course is individual but, most hysterectomies are keyhole surgery now and that has a huge impact on pain and recovery.
Best wishes,
Clare
Thank u Clare, I’d read about peppermint tea but I really don’t think I can drink it!!! I drank loads when I was pregnant because of morning sickness & every time I smell it now it makes me heave 🤢 u weren’t in long bless u, I’m having a total abdominal so will be in for a while!! Xx
Hiya... been out of hosp after total ab hysterectomy. The doc prescribed the peppermint oil whilst i was on the ward. Drinking boiled water really helped and sucking extra strong mints. I did have loads of the peppermint tea and i have to say it wasn't particularly nice. I started to feel better as soon as i arrived home. God sleep.and woke up feeling like i wanted to eat... which was brilliant. To be honest, i feel pretty good just taking it easy.... Any more questions, please do ask. Jane x
