Frozen shoulder common in menopause?
Hi sunshinegirl100
I've had this, it's been flipping miserable. It has travelled down from my shoulder into my elbow and the fingers next to my little finger. I'm seeing a natural therapist and last week had my first Bowen therapy session which has helped so much. I can't take anti inflams as I have Barrets Oesophagus and IBS. I had a total hysterectomy in October 2014 and have had lots of aching joints and muscles since. I have heard that menopausal women can have a hard time. Frozen shoulder & bad backs seem to be the most common. I can't bear being offered strong painkillers etc by Dr. I prefer a more long term natural approach.
I hope this helps, best wishes.
Thanks for your reply and sorry to hear you are suffering to. I don't like taking tablets so also refused painkillers. Can I ask what Bowen therapy is ? Best wishes
Hi again 😊
I've copied and pasted the information below for you about Bowen Therapy. Have a look & see what you think there's also loads of information if you google it. I just thought it had to be worth a try and it was.
The Bowen Technique is a remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform Bowen's unique sets of rolling-type moves which stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body.

Best wishes to you.
I also had a frozen shoulder at the time of menopause and read that it is very common during this time. Mine was extremely painful and I only had about 30% of my normal range. The doctor recommended physical therapy, but the exercises seemed to inflame the area and make it worse. The only thing that helped was the ultrasound massage. So I believe that the Bowen Technique that was mentioned above, could have been very helpful for me if it was done gently.
