I would say the first step you have already done, reaching out. It's hard when our minds wont shut off. Music, Reading, Praying, Mediating, ....... I wish one of these helped me more but its a few ideas though probably not great ones
Distress Tolerance that is part of DBT therapy has alot of healthy ways to distract yourself when you are feeling overwhelmed.
