To anyone in the UK who eats meat or consumes dairy...

I am very hesitant to write this post. The film Land of Hope and Glory was released yesterday. It can be freely watched. Check out landofhopeandglory.org/

Be warned this is a VERY tough watch. It documents, imo, very serious and totally inhumane cruelty to animals in the UK in the present day as STANDARD. This is all packaged as meat served neatly packaged by all major supermarkets.

It even implicates the RSPCA in certifying these farms!

I had always thought the UK had a high standard of animal welfare. No more.

To me, this is such a devastating indictment of today's UK society that I have written to my MP and anyone else I can think of.

Near my home is a pig farm. How do I know that this pig farm does not operate similar practices?

Good post. It's time that everyone who consumes meat realises how it's production can cause huge suffering. Not all but until we agitate for stricter laws it will continue. The world appetite for cheap meat at every meal is driving theSe practices.

You shouldn't feel hesitant to write posts like these, we all need to see what's going on. I haven't time to look at it at present as I'm on my way out now but will have a look over the weekend.

Well done for sharing.

Thanks for posting this, I recently watched Vegucated which is an American film and I was interested to know about practices in the UK. I'll have a look, cheers ☺️

Earthlings is another very good insight on the matter.

However, contrary to what most people with an agenda feel, the problem is not with society or even our eating habits. It's predominantly with the government. The government has the responsibility to educate and subsidise good eating habits, while slamming down on animal farming practices. Meat will always be a staple in the world's diet, even a necessary one for some people. What we need to do is slam down hard on the mistreatment of animals in dairy farms and slaughter houses. Animals should be treated with respect, humility, and be given a chance to live a real life. That would drive the cost of meat up and lower our worldwide consumption significantly. It would also make the animal produce infinity times healthier for us.

Yes, extremely sadly the government will always back industry and thus encourage people to be increasingly sick and many to die. The sick and especially dead have almost no power, no influence.

When I was at my worst I simply could not face completing my PIP application for financial support. I looked at the 37 page document and "filed" it. I lost out financially because of that, but that's what ill health does to you. In my own mind I made the determination that I wanted health over money, so that's where I concentrated my efforts.

Now I have my health largely back, now I want to fight for others to regain their health. The more people who experience that what you put in your mouth seriously affects your health the more pressure will end up on the government's plate. It will be a long haul.

Thanks for the insight! I'm in a very similar situation as you. I've been plagued with poor health over the last few years despite being in my 20's. It all came about from severe misconceptions I had about health and what food I should be eating. I also grew up in a family and culture huge on animal products. However after dedicating my life completely to good health I changed my eating habits significantly, and so far I'm in an effective road to recovery. I am dedicated to help other people realize good eating habits too, instead of thinking that their daily serving of junk food and hamburgers is moderate or healthy.

I have asked myself these same questions and that film is right to raise them.

Pops buys from some organic farms, where the animals PH is tested after slaughter amongst other things, this reassures him. It’s part of the branding of organic Welsh beef, lamb it seems. Animals not to be mixed in transport nor transported far, not to protect the animal but to not cross contaminate the meat.

I would rather not risk it.
