From my boyfriend Richard, who is a Radiographer, yes this is quite possible as CT and MRI are different types of imaging modality. CT uses x-rays, and MRI uses magnetism. Some things will show up on both scans and some will be more evident on one rather than the other because they work differently.

The explanation then gets too technical for me to understand, so this is only semi-helpful I'm afraid!

That's interesting, can a radiographer tell if the brain is abnormal?

A radiographer would take the image, and should be able to see broad areas of damage. The image would be passed on to a radiologist, preferably a neuroradiologist to interpret fully and detect the subtleties and complexities of the damage. This takes years of experience. I hope this helps a bit.

Ah thanks, I think I was mixing up radiologist with radiographer. I have an MRI scan and have always wanted a second opinion on what damage I have.

Yes, when I collapsed I had a CT scan at my local hospital that didn't show anything so they did a lumbar puncture which detected blood. I was transferred to a specialist neurology department at another hospital and the MRI scan showed where the ruptured aneurysm was before they operated. As mentioned in a prior answer CT scans do not show as much detail as MRI scans.
