Would be great talk to somebody who has experience of this. Thanks
Hi, Just wanted to know if anybody else on here ha... - Headway
Hi, Just wanted to know if anybody else on here has been involved with hypoxic brain injuries please. If so, how far down the down are you?
My husband has one, we're 6 1/2 years in.
what is hypoxic
I suffered Hypoxic Brain Injury just over 4 years ago after an assault. It's tough, but the amount of stuff I've learnt in this time is simply staggering.
Hypoxic is were the level of Oxygen supplying the brain falls to levels that are unable to support it. In my case it was severe blood loss which meant for a period of time my brain didn't get enough Oxygen and damage resulted.
My partner who is 41 has hypoxic brain injury following a cardiac arrest 3 months ago. He is currently in a neuro rehab unit and making good progress. How long ago did your injury happen?
Good morning
Firstly, I must apologise for not getting back to the very kind people who answered my question. I'm not usually this lax about things, just life seems to get in the way sometimes (as I'm sure most are familiar with!!)
The reason for my question is that my son suffered an injury just over three years ago and (although I realise everyone is different) it would be interesting to hear how others have coped, what stage they are now with their recovery, and a whole host of other things.
I have read many stories concerning brain injuries, but a good percentage have been from folk who have suffered TBIs. Somehow (in my thoughts) a hypoxic injury seems 'different' as there is no physical damage to recover from - does that make sense? - probably not but hey.
Anyway, thanks again and if perchance there is anybody who would like to share their (or their family's experiences with me that would be great.
