Avin nowt but bad luck with my car, bought it November 2021, December 2022 exhaust filter full came up, always drove diesels, never ever had a problem before, its a 2018 model, 67plate but registered in 2018, so in December I got someone out of the Internet, charged me a bomb just do a regen, same thing happened in February, I haven’t a clue what they did in January, cleaned it or removed it altogether, I'm inbits stuck in, can't go nowhere, getting depressed, not eaten in 2 days, cracking up, don't even know how to resolve it

It might be something as easy as the diesel particulate filter DPF becoming clogged up. They are designed to collect heavier soot type particles in the exhaust, something older diesels didn't bother with.Chances are the mechanic just cleaned it as they don't often need replacing.

The cheapest and easiest way to clear a DPF is to rev the engine quite high, much higher than you usually would. So drive around in 2nd when you would normally be in 3rd or 4 th. A few minutes would normally clear it. If that doesn't clear it I would suggest a different repairer

As Sentinel suggests, a short aggressive burst of revving can clear the problem, preferably followed by a longish run on a motorway or A road (30 mins-ish there & back). Short runs/slow speeds are often the culprit for this issue. If that fails, get it fixed at a reputable garage on the high street and get a guarantee.

I've never owned a diesel motor but my MOT mechanic explained why he was revving the hell out of a Citroen to clear that very problem as I arrived ! I've used him for 30 yrs and stayed with him after he moved a fair distance away. He's trustworthy and more than happy for me to hang around as he explains the tests and findings.

Good luck Phil.. x

That's a plan ; exactly what's needed to kick the depression. First thing you need is food to help you function and take control. One step at a time, and the first you've taken already here today.

Keep us updated on how you're getting on m'love. x
