so,having lived most of my life 8 miles from the great city that is Durham,i thought would know my way around.so..social security have said that i need to work as i can walk, talk, breathe.they put me on this "restart" program(i dont have enough to worry about!)the directions given were good, hadnt thought about the raddison blu that is now there.this city is considered for city of culture next year.part of route took me under a walkway, multi storey car park, with extractors overhead from the many restaraunts etc.very warm for those infortunate(though smells must bother)this said in my opinion, easy living/extra income for some not so in need.i probably walk maybe a mile to get to the place.big house, converted.know sort, free water them machines, someone saying they can show where to make coffee, free tampons(help yrself).i ask myself whats the point?you get a child advisor looking like a nodding dog because she did the course she can handle this?so i get my bus fare home and figure just walk through field on way back met a nice doggie and his mam,and get this...she is from eastbourne where my son was born,so we have some crack, she works at university(obvs)though has more time at home now is 4 months preg, and doesnt need to work.i dont say too much other than the blisters on toes for not putting socks in my boots.again total pleb, what can you do?

dad comes from Durham, spent much of my childhood up there. Climbing to the top of the cathedral, swimming in the weir. Dad wanted to move back up there but mom wouldn’t. Both passed on now, dad is planted with his parent in the corner of a field down frim what was Wolsingham sanitarium. Dad ironically was conceived there!!! Such a peaceful place filled with love for times gone by!

Good morning Dogsabighelp

I would just love to tell all these clever educated people working for the government to get stuffed .... but I know that is not likely to get me the support and help I need.

So, I continually ask all these very clever educated people for help. Help with the fatigue, help with the headaches, help with the fear, help to remember what happened last time I saw them, help to sort out my history that I know but don’t remember.

All these clever educated people are very kind, at least that's what I tell them. It floors them every time, they can't handle the fact they don't know how to help.

Move on to the next clever educated person, sooner or later I will find one who understands what help & support means, I have to remain optimistic 😊

Best wishes

Michael

I've just taken a trip along Hallgarth street (where Durham DWP is) and seen how quaint it is with all the different rustic houses. Yes D., I'm cyber-stalking you on Google street view ! It started with my looking for the Raddison Blu hotel as I'd never heard of the name .......and what a vast but soulless building (bit of a blot on the landscape of such a characterful city). I travel all over the word courtesy of Google.

The river Wear is beautiful. I've missed walking the riverbanks of our local river Mersey this past 12 months (poorly knee) it's so green and peaceful ; a really special place.

I hope you're not too stressed about the Restart people m'love. They can come across as pretty patronising and single minded. Keep us updated.

Hope you're having good visits with Sean and you're both well. Love to you both (and Socks of course). 🌼🍀Xx
