TBI and Trauma Therapy

Does anyone have information about therapy for Trauma in the Manchester area? My son has an ABI and severe trauma issues following a car crash. I am seeking a therapist with experience in such areas and with training in somatic experiencing and polyvagal theory, ideally.

Hi there, apologies I am not from the Manchester area as am down in London but just wanted to acknowledge how hard this must be for you. I have a similar situation and I know my mother struggles immensely with the secondary repercussions of a serious car crash so I hope you are as okay as you can be.

And in terms of getting the right help you should go down the route of specialist injury rehab teams. I have a rehab team that consists of a doctor who specialises in polytraumas and multiple specialist injury physios and occupational therapists who know how to deal with each injury let it be physical, neurological or psychological. They all work together to help me through every part of the trauma that the injury has left in my life and they will also be able to get you in touch with people who can help deal with the ABI specifically.

I hope your son is alright and doesn’t feel alone as he is not, I felt great comfort to know someone young (as I am 22) has dealt with trauma and serious long term injury following a car crash. I hope everything work out for you both, stay strong !
