Walking Stick

Hi all I posted on here about me having to now use a walking stick after a lifetime without..anyway the personal battle inside myself was short lived..I now love my stick n I wont go anywhere without it..since using it ive noticed I dont limp when walking my foot still drags the floor tho but im walking straighter and ive found the stress on my good leg as been reduced massively..its amazing how a stick can help transform things when walking...thankyou to all you that gave me words of encouragement regarding using a stick im so glad I bit the bullet and started using it...I still have to work harder with foot placement but its so much better than living life relying on one good leg to do the work of my bad leg...I just had to share it with ya❤️👍👍xx

Well done. Dont think of having a walking stick as a hindrance but as an aid to help you achieve more.

I know my day will come and i will be waiting to accept it.

When the benefits hugely outweigh the awkwardness and personal pride its time to pick up that stick.

Good luck and take care

Pax

That is a cheerful walking stick! The good vibes will certainly put a spring in your step.

Artie sends you a tail wag. xx

I think 'Cheap and Cheerful' sums it up ! I decided it would suffice for now as an experiment 😏. I've waited 2 months for a steroid injection in my injured knee and I hope this might take some strain off my other knee when limping. Also hope it might improve my balance.

I'd better follow my own advice to Survivor of 'wear' it and 'flaunt' it 😁

Hope all's well with you my friend. Love to you, and a chin tickle for little Artie. Xx

It doesn't look cheap from my end! It's great that you have decided to trial using a walking stick. No doubt, your balance will improve. It will also relieve the pressure from your good knee. Hopefully, the wait won't be too much longer for your injection. All is well with me. Thanks for asking E.

hi all, I’ve used a stick for a couple of years now, was a little difficult at first to accept, having always worked in care and used these devises. But I was walking off line I thought I was walking straight but my daughter or sister said I was veering at an angle often walking into them, so I tried a stick quite reluctantly, but now I have a brightly coloured red flowery one which I love and don’t go anywhere without it love Alice xx

Thankyou for your comment I can relate completely to the walking into people if someone is walking at the side of me they always say i veer off at an angle into the persons next to me so much so that I can cut across someones path without knowing im doing it using my stick hasnt fixed this problem but it has massively improved my direction I still have to work hard on placement of my bad foot but its much easier with a stick 👍xx

That's great! I use a 4 wheeled walker, you may call it something else - a trusted companion.

The tools are there to help us, and they do!

Never let pride get in the way of being safely independent or healing faster...use the tools!

I am always happy when people reach the ah ha moment!

I've been using my stick for over a year now and it really helps because I waddle like a duck without it! Reminds me of the song 'Do the Hucklebuck' in the 80's!! Now I'm showing my age 😀 x
