CHC funding withdrawn

Has anybody had CHC funding taken away and appealed against the decision? My husband was discharged home from hospital with a 24 hour carer package. After a few months he has been deemed non eligible for funding as they have downgraded his needs. We think his needs are still the same in spite of pigeon steps forward. Any advice?

Hi. I don't know about CHC, but the NHS website suggests that you can get free help from beaconchc.co.uk , 03455480300.

hi my husband had full funding from the chc when he was discharged from the hospital last year in july he had a review and it was withdrawn even tho my husband had a second cardic arrest in july in the letter they sent me said he dont need full funding but if he goes in a nursing home he can get nursing funding basically the nurses giving his meds to him but my husband is at home which made no sense to me than they said that his needs are more socail than health so they will write to our local council but i have not geard anything from the socail services my husband has severe cognition problems and needs 24hr care and i work so im under alot of pressure myself because i cant leave him on his own i think they want me to just send him to a nursing home which obviously i wont happen

mind you my husband has improved from the last chc review we had its only his cognition now

thank you for taking the time to reply. All the best in your efforts to get the support you and your husband need. Have you thought of appealing against the decision?

to be honest i really dont have the energy to appeal they wont give him 24hr care but just send carers to take him to the toilet and i dont really need that as my husband can go to the toilet but is wearing pads and the carers just come in and change his pad they are not a great help they dont really encourage him to use the toilet and i dont need nursing care as i giv his meds to him myself i take him to appointments the chc is full of crap to be honest
