10 years post-injury: lost confidence in physical ability, causing falls. Physio maybe?

I am wondering if anyone has experienced something similar and could give me some tips. My mother in law had a serious brain injury 10 years ago. Over time she has developed more low moods, negative or anxious attitudes to physical activity and has put on a lot of weight. She is not able to remember or reason why she needs to move more. This is made worse by her inactivity causing DVT for which she now has daily injections (and can’t remember why she has the injections). She slipped in the garden this week on wet grass and couldn’t get up. I’m not sure how much is physical limitation and how much is confidence or her ability to problem solve.

My father in law struggles to address these problems, they don’t like to talk about it. But, is there anything I can suggest to help? Has anyone used a physio or similar therapist who is used to dealing with patients like my MiL?

Hi. Certainly physios that specialise in neuro injury can help, this would require your mil to buy into the activities, as others around her would need to, as they will need to support her. 🍀
