I am new to this site but am pleased I have finally aknowledged it at long last - only two years post TBI!
I had two nocturnal fits. First was in July 2020 and second was 24th of December 2020. They were both nocturnal as stated before and therefore I was no conscious but was woken up by two paramedics in our room after my partner has called an ambulance. The fits were around 5 mins long. I was just wondering if anyone has managed to get their driving licenses back after having fits and if so, how long has it taken and what is the best way for going around doing so?
Also, has anyone had the Pfyzer vaccine yet? If so has anyone had a fit as a result. I am 25 so have not been offered a jab yet and am just curious. I just don't want to have another fit.
Cheers and hope all are well.

I lost my licence for 12 months. I just got it back in march but not really driving yet.i have been out 3 times for small drives with my husband but I concentrate so hard on the looking forward I don't take notice of speed etc. I also struggle recognising where I am now so unless I had sat nav on doubt I would get to where I was going.i also got licence back on 3 year medical review.good luck 😊
Thank you for sharing your experience, you've certainly had a hard time of it! I am sorry that you struggle with your driving. I'm sure it will get better with time though. I fortunately do not suffer with the directional issues and speed aspect either. Well at least since I did take a post TBI driving examination, they passed me, gave my license back and then I had a fit so here we are! Thank you very once again and I wish you the very best of luck too.
Hi, I had the Pfizer injection, I hate the Tory phrase jab. I don't know of any occurrences of subsequent fitting, but if you were to experience a fever, this could contribute.
You usually have to be fit free for one year to regain your license to drive, DVLA will as for reports from your GP and usually a neurologist, and you maybe expected to attend a medical assessment, and a medical driving test, this isn't like the driving test you originally took.
Following a fit you must surrender your license, even if this is a nocturnal fit.
Thanks for your in-site, really appreciate it. I am no in the 25-29 category so will get it when it becomes available. I have already done a driving assessment last year actually but that was about 11 months post injury/accident and I passed it and then had a nighttime fit. I have subsequently surrendered my license just FYI and I'm hoping to have it back soon but time will tell. There are no short cuts in life so don't worry haha. Also, what you mean by hating the "Tory phrase Jab"?
The Tories jagonised the vaccination, to jab, it is not a jab, they are just trying to "get down wiv it". I'm a retired nurse, it just narks me. It is a painless injection. A jab is what a girl in school did when she jabbed her very sharp pencil in my leg, and although I didn't admit it at the time, it blooming hurt! 😂
Yes but the term 'jab' is a socially accepted piece jargon so why would a government not be able to use that phrase haha? Seems a bit semantic to me but fair enough 😉. Haha yes well some jabs do have a short acute pain but do go away from past experience. Glad you seem well after your vaccination though. Once again thanks for your input, certainly greatly appreciated.
It is because it minimises the value of the vaccination, and those we trust to deliver it, not that this government has any genuine interest in valuing anything or anyone unless they can scim off the top of the cream.
