After the R.T.A. which gave me brain damage i was also left with No taste or smell.
Is there anything that can be done about this ?

I doubt if after so long MInx. My taste & smell were corrupted rather than lost, so everything smelled & tasted rancid. But almost immediately after learning it might be irreversible I adopted a 'mind over matter' routine where I concentrated really hard on the particular food I was eating whilst conjuring up the taste from memory.
To my surprise (& of others) things did improve slightly and by the 3 year point it had become quite tolerable. It's still touch and go and some days are worse than others, but I just give stuff I can't eat to my fox and revert to something reliable !
Brain injury often result in damage to the olfactory nerve but there can be other causes of loss of smell (Anosmia) which you might want to have investigated by an ENT specialist on the off chance it's treatable. x
Hi, my husband is the same, 2 years on. He was told they would not return, because the nerve was severed. Having said that, someone on here recently said he was told the same thing, and after 3 years it has mostly returned. That gave us hope. X
Ok,thank you.
