Hiya everyone..

So goin through my hospital/rehabilitation stuff I’ve gathered and found this rubber egg which was used for squeezing to bring back strength in my hands as I didn’t use them for a long time.

Wanted to know any “strange” tools you guys used?

To me this was strange at the time...i was to sit at a computer and match national flags n birds and find a key in a house. It was all to help my brain recover from cognitive damage I had from a severe rollover accident.

Btw..i had a rubber"heart",sorta creepy but helped me.

I think I’d get fatigued watching a computer screen, especially in the early days..

the test seem strange at the time but when you look back you can see how it helped.

The doctors at Trafford rehab hospital made a video of me puttin wooden pegs into a hole then made another 6 month later after trying me on modifinil and the difference (in speed) was unbelievable, even the basic task work 😁

Don’t recall any strange tools as such more strange stuff done to me, by the physios in rehabilitation, be that standing on one leg on a cushion while a young woman throws soft balls at me! To having my head shook while I attempted to read eye test sheets etc!

That was intended! Ie to see how well I can track, and various other tests which all seemed involve having the young woman staring into my eyes at close distance.

Ie wanted to see how well the vestibular system worked, or not, so they needed to find the limits ie for me to spin or have to hold on, which was frankly terrifying!

Lot was getting me to trust and take the leap of faith that when I fell that the physio who was half my size! Would catch me! In fairness she did always.

They are very good, and there are other smaller squeezy balls for anxiety.

That's such a strange feeling. I had one of those squeeze eggs for my hands which I'd totally forgotten about but the memory just came back to me. I remember having no strength in my hands and also having to drink with a straw. Maybe some things are best left unremembered. But on a positive note I survived and am much improved. I hope things are better with you too.

I too had to drink through a straw too. Also had to drink thick liquids I.e. coffee/tea due to a trachea. I don’t really remember those times but the scar is a reminder.
