Hi Everyone

I'm new to the forum and I'm just looking for some information/reassurance,

I had a left frontal lobe craniotomy at the beginning of March to remove a grade 1 tumor that was found after I had a concussion, after I banged my head it heamorraged, so the fantastic surgeon at John radcliffe whipped it out, recovery was fairly quick and the last month ive felt great, that's until 3 days ago when I got a terrible headache that will not go away, tried paracetamol and also cocodamol but nothing seems to help much.

Is this normal? And can I expect bouts of headaches in the months/years to come?

Also along with the headaches is fatigue and nausea, probably all my fault for doing to much, ( I played golf 3 times last week)

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Davy

Hi. I can recommend phoning the Headway helpline on 0808 800 2244. They are very good and should have lots of information to help you .

I wish you all the best. πŸ™‚πŸŒΈ

Thanks Marnie22

Just back from hospital and all seems fine, just been told to slow down as I don't rest enough and the doc thinks it's fatigue, turns out I shouldn't really be playing golf 3 times a week πŸ˜‚

It depends on how much you've overdone things ! After coiling for a haemorrhage it was a good 6 months before I started finding my feet. So at 4 months, playing golf with the swings & jolts might have been a bit more than your recovering brain could handle. It's SUCH early days.

I'm generally pretty active but bad headaches are still, after 8 years, my brain's way of letting me know I've overstepped the mark (again).

Brain injuries are for life. But with reasonable management the after effects can be minimised and life can go on albeit with certain limitations but with quality also.

If you're concerned you could ask to speak to the consultant or his/her neuro team at JR for their opinion. But fatigue/ headaches/nausea are standard symptoms after brain injury when overstepping limitations.

Please take more care Davy ; 3 sessions of golf per week at this stage sounds excessive to me..... Cat x

Thanks for your insight its very helpful to know what to expect.

It's hard in the early days when you feel the need for normality & to prove you won't be beaten. I ordered a snazzy new bike online a week after I was discharged but balance kept me grounded for a long time before I could get cycling. You'll find your equilibrium with time..... x
