James Cracknell. Post head injury. Strictly.

Following James Cracknell very public and open discussion of his brain injury, the after effects ,marriage breakdown and recent Boat race triumph, I am wondering how he will cope with Strictly.?

Watching all the razzmatazz tonight is there anyone there who understands what it’s like to be post head injury? Will it raise the profile of ‘ hidden disabilities ‘ ?

Living in similar circumstances ( post head injury OH) I’m wondering how he will get on with everyone, if his dance teacher will make allowances or understand, is it all too noisy? will Craig be cutting and hurtful.

First look at his dance style and I’d agree with JCs summary of his own dancing ‘ a dad dancer’.

Will he succeed or will it end in tears?

Brave man anyway and I’ll be watching and rooting for him

I've been undecided whether to watch, although I saw Stacey Dooley (who I rooted for last year) back dancing so beautifully last night. But I wasn't aware of JCs involvement so maybe I'll tune in properly next week.

For myself, I struggle to watch anything frenetic and with lots of flashing lights/cheering etc., so I wouldn't cope at all well with the stress of being there, let alone in a competitive role !

It's hard to say whether he'll raise awareness of brain injury being hidden ; it could go the other way, suggesting that if you can perform such demanding moves in the spotlight there's nought much wrong with you 🤔

I'll watch anyway ; you've aroused my curiosity now ! x

I think he'll cope with Strictly just fine, he sounds like the kind that likes a good challenge. Whether he'll do well is another matter. The effects of his brain injury sound more hidden in nature, so I don't think he'll have physical problems, but may find learning new moves and quickly putting everything together for a performance is harder with a brain injury. Learning to dance is one of the best activities you can do and good rehabilitation post brain injury, but it's not easy. I don't care how well he does, but hopefully people will be inspired to learn.

I watched him with Ben Fogle and thought what a misery he is and then my Hubs told me he had a B.I. and he had changed (My opinion only) Perhaps he has changed since their adventures. Felt sad for him once I knew !!..Good luck James and remember to sing and smile xxxxx
