If you get PIP you may be entitled to extra money on top of your existing benefits, a reduction in your council tax or road tax bills and discounts on travel. You'll need your PIP award letter before you can apply for this extra help.

Its worth checking with citizens advice or on the internet for more information.

thats providing you dont or you work a certain nunber of hours. youll also find you can probably claim carers allowance for him and hell be entitled to ( cant remember because i have memory problems due to a brain injury ).

as you dont appear to be working, you probably already get free prescriptions and ( if req.) specs.

me i get pip thats it, served my country, worked, both my wife and myself, she works now, we have savings, were entitled to jack shit.

I may go to citizens advice or the council to find out more. I think it depends on a few things (like you say).

I read that some may be entitled to discount on road tax, council tax and even a blue badge for the vehicle you travel in.

Not everyone, but there maybe someone on here that are entitled to extra help but have not been made aware its there.

you only get a blue badge if you get full mobility on your pip, what youve got to remember is, yes you can get a reduction in road tax, but its for the person with the brain injury, so he or she has to be with you whenever you drive the car.

many brain injury survivors claim and receive a big council tax reduction by claiming on a form from council for severe mental inparement ..not a nice description but if you live on your own it makes your council tax zero .if with another person you also get a big reduction ,,

this label will also entitle you to free prescriptions I believe ,and a disabled persons zero charge bus pass

pip benefit gets you Warm Home Discount from ypour electricity provider £140 a year credited to your account '
