Fatigue - everything is an effort. Hacks?

Hey.

I've managed to get a lot of stuff under control since I had to start readjusting to a lifestyle post-TBI. I've made a respectable amount of progress regarding memory, behaviour, and general quality of life. The one thing that's really proving a hurdle is fatigue.

I was fit and energetic when I had my accident, and now I can barely scrape together the willpower required just to complain about things, much less do anything about them.

So my question is this: does anyone have any really solid cheats, tips and hacks for squeezing more productivity out of the daylight hours? I'm pretty good at the basics: I sleep great, eat well and manage some exercise, but I'm looking for tips above and beyond the fundamentals.

Hit me.

Hi

Are you ploughing on until you hit the wall or are you breaking your day into manageable blocks with real rest between them?

It'll be hard for you after such an adventurous & active lifestyle but, unless you can discipline yourself to listen to your body and alternate between rest and activity, you'll find the problems will persist.

I though it was laudable after a brain haemorrhage to declare myself an exception to the rule and pick up where I'd left off...……..Mmm. Apart from occasional nudging of the boundaries, we do as our body dictates or pay the price with utter exhaustion, which might be what you're doing now ! Take care.... 😳

What they said. Except you may need help doing that. I did. I had workmates remind me to take breaks and to take a tablet before my headache got too severe to manage. They were really helpful and delighted to help.

I prioritize everything now, If it isnt a high priority I just let it be, rather than trying to be everything I used to be, I try to accept what I am now.

Take breaks from fluorescent lighting as well. Out doors seems best for me .

Quiet breaks. 5 minutes of quiet can do wonders for recharging.

By the way I hate that I know this stuff, so resentment of the reality is a normal thing too.

Hi best not ask me, it’s 3pm and I’ve taken to my bed as I’m worn out! There is a pile of washing up to do and it is not going to get done today.
