post concussion syndrome
23 Months in with some improvement from the index event.
Started to just call it a Brain Injury and move to acceptance of the new me.
Mainly fatigue, headaches and migraines. I have tinnitus and eye disturbances. Also cognitive impact.
The main feedback from consultations is just to get on with life.
Sorry not answering the question of post 2 years. Are you after some inspiration or help on dealing with the on-going symptoms?
could I ask please don't answer if you don't wish how did it happen?
I've had post concussion syndrome for nearly 2 years. I have some days worse than others and doctors are now saying it must be something else because it usually clears within 4 months. It is a horrible feeling!! I rest in bed when I have my worst days with it.
could I ask how did it happen don't answer if don't want to
I fell out of a golf buggy, hit my head on the concrete and fractured my skull and had a bleed on the brain and bruised brain.
ouch so sorry too hear that , I'm trying to figure out why I have post concussion from no bleed etc just hitting my head on the coener of a van door
Have you been to a doctors? Post concussion is your brain thinking you still have concussion so you wouldn't need to have a bleed I assume. Possibly due to concussion off bumping your head on the van.
I still have major / life changing issues and my accident was 11 years ago (I fell downstairs and my head took the impact). I struggle with cognitive issues, emotional issues (especially low mood, frustration, anger), fatigue, headpains, nausea and many more symptoms. It feels like a life sentence.
I’ve just passed my 2 year anniversary.
Took a fall six foot onto concrete, bashed my head got whiplash in 2013. GP ignored head injury got physio for whiplash. Counsellor said I was depressed (wrong). Long story short I realised what was wrong by talking to people here. Forced my GP to refer me to neurologist at NHNN who confirmed Post concussion syndrome. No treatment. GP then referred me to a unit at Queen Square that specialised in cognitive aspects of brain injury and they were great, got a neuropsychologist assessment and some advice about managing symptoms and holding down a job. Biggest issue for me was short term memory issues due to problems concentrating, attention issues, and noise sensitivity. This forum saved my sanity and helped me find ways of coping. Noise issues 70% gone, (still have earplugs always to hand), memory and attention are much better. Count myself very fortunate indeed. It does keep improving though the first neurologist said up to 2 years. Everupyine here encouraged me with stories of improvements beyond 2 years. Don’t give up.
