Doing abseiling for BI charity on Saturday

I think out of everyone who’s abseiling I’m only one not nervous. I go to a BI group and they have set up an abseiling event to raise money for the charity. About 50 people doing it most for first time. I’m signed up and can’t wait, I’ve done it once before on a school adventure holiday. There were loads of different activities to do all under supervision and safe. Before I went I said as all activities were safe and something I wouldn’t normally get to do I would do everything. Of course there were things I was more keen to do than others, got to doing abseiling and I’m not too bothered about heights but this looked terrifying. I seriously considered not doing it but after everyone else had done it I decided I’d have a go. I can honestly say it was one of the best things we did that week. Better than some of the things I’d looked forward to most. Thing with abseiling is you have control over it, you hold the ropes holding you up, you decide how fast or slow to go down, your not relying on someone else to get it right for you. Obviously there is someone to make sure it’s safe but you have the control over doing it.
