Brain Injury while hang gliding in France in 2005. Came through reasonably well despite being in a coma for 8 days. My right eye has moved out of position and is no longer central , but only when I use BOTH eyes as a team !!! Each eye individually is OK , but problems arise when trying to use them as a pair
STRABISMUS: Brain Injury while hang gliding in... - Headway
STRABISMUS
Hi David, difficult ive no doubt.
I paid for vision therapy to help my brain join up the messages it was getting from my eyes and ears, often in brain injury the messages become misaligned. I have lost sone peripheral vision, now they couldnt bring that back but they helped teach me how to compensate and streamlined my vision. They helped a lot with my balance and spatial awareness.
It may be they could help, search for vision therapists online, there are not many but you may be lucky and have one close by.
Unfortunately its not available on the nhs but you may find someone needing a client for their university or college portfolio.

David! You are brave! It would not occur to me to try hang gliding! That sounds awesome! Me -it's like I'm always getting used to the new normal for me. My sugeon is super-nice, but uses big words like strabismus & calls in the students to evaluate my vision & gets mildly frustrated w/them saying, "...It's obvious!" & then he glares at them. But I can never remember what's obvious 'cos the words are so fast. The important thing is I'm in good hands. This week I'll be out of helmet so I can start retraining my eyes w/prism lens glasses I haven't been wearing 'cos they can't fit under helmet. You have my best wishes, David.
Can't we message each other on Headway's Facebook page ? That would be much better for me
