Hi Mimi. I had my SAH 6 years ago in Dec. and have never had a seizure (thankfully). I know the likelihood of a seizure drops dramatically one year post-op.
As the risk decreases with time I imagine that, at two years, you're pretty much out of danger. There are always exceptions of course, but I wouldn't dwell on something which, by now, looks pretty remote.
Best wishes m'dear, Cat x
Thank you for replying. Since my SAH my emotions have been a roller coster. Hope you are doing fine.
Perhaps owing to the spontaneous nature of a brain haemorrhage it can leave people with a degree of paranoia. I must say that, for me, it was the opposite. The first night home after 2 months of 24hr care I expected to feel insecure & scared, but felt only a little disorientated.
I'm lucky to have lost (along with my short-term memory) the apprehensive streak which plagued me most of my life. But I remember how wearing it used to be, and I'm sorry if it's an ongoing issue for you Mimi.
Am I right in thinking you're in the US ? If so, I don't know what the healthcare situation is there, but I wonder whether some 1 to 1 counselling might help you to examine your thinking patterns, and maybe work on moderating your troublesome ideas.
With professional help, you might manage to focus more readily on the present time, leaving less room for intrusive/unhelpful ideas and hopefully, in time, that would become your default stance.
But at least keep talking here on the forum ; unburdening ourselves can be SO cathartic and is VERY underrated.................
Off to bed now (3am). Hope we can talk again soon m'love. Cat xx
Hello! My SAH was over 20 years ago and I, very luckily, have never had a seizure. 🙂
