How about this for a scar?
Quadriceps tendon repair after total separation. Occurred in Cambodia, dragged through Vietnam [long before the BBC thought about sending the disabled there] and treated in UK on my return.
NHS, once again, has come up trumps for me. Five months off work with full pay and back just in time to be passed over for promotion.
Leg brace and crutch for walking and traveling in public; other than that fairly mobile.
