A bad headache turned out to the fluid leaking from spinal chord into brain, with no known way to fix it.

It's terrifying that the leak can't be located, even with all the available technology ! What a dismal existance for your friend, yet he manages to smile.

Here's hoping for a breakthrough in detecting such problems so that living with this peculiar condition can become a thing of the past.

Thanks for posting jriddell. I really hope your friend gets the relief he needs soon. I suffer from recurrent hydrocephalus caused by an AVM. But instead of a leak, I am unable to drain CSF from my brain. I have a VP Shunt now which relieves me of the symptoms. Before this and when it blocks I get really awful headaches too so can sympathise re those your friend describes.
