is it worth seeing the doctor?

for the past 2 days i've been feeling like i'm going to faint a lot. my breathing is worse. i was sick on wednesday, i had a cold, but now it's kinda over maybe? now i feel like i look pale, and on some parts of my body i am very pale and blue. i don't eat healthy, and i have an eating disorder, but i haven't restricted or starved or purged in like 2 weeks. i don't eat anything really good or healthy, so it's not a surprise if i get unhealthy. but i feel like lighter, and dainty, like i could pass out any moment. i have a headache too, it's constant. i can't eat without feeling nauseous. and everything tastes bad, even liquids. i still have a cough and stuffy nose from the cold. i also feel like i can't breathe properly. i may be overreacting but idk i'm always uncomfortable. i think i may be malnourished or anemic or something, but i just want to sleep for days, but i can't, it's so hard to fall asleep with this headache. i also don't know if my meds have something to play in with it, but i take cymbalta, and i haven't took them in a few days because they didn't get refilled. idk should i see the doctor, i don't feel well? i don't want to end up just overreacting and like wasting the doctors and others time.

If you are worried about wasting the doctor's time (and you shouldn't be - you have as much right to see him as anyone else) phone the surgery and ask for advice. They will tell you if you need to be seen. It certainly sounds like your diet is a big part of the problem and if you have had a cold you may have been eating even less than normal. You must, anyway, contact the surgery to get an urgent prescription, you should never stop taking medication suddenly unless you are told to do so. It can make you much worse.

Do phone now and make a doctor's appointment or see what the receptionist suggests, get a new prescription immediately and do try to eat something that will help you. You don't want to pass out in the street and get taken off to hospital where you will wait in A&E for hours.

Yes, sounds like you could do with checking over and possibly getting some help with your eating habits.

Good luck

Hello deadchlorine,

Thanks for your post, but sorry to hear about your symptoms over the past few days.

Please consider ringing NHS 111 (dial 111), a non-emergency medical number from which you can get medical advice. The healthcare professional on the phone will ask you a series of questions about your symptoms. Please be as open and honest with them as you can about how you are feeling, including any information about your medication.

If you want some general advice, remember you can contact the Headway helpline on 0808 800 2244 or helpline@headway.org.uk.

Take care
