It may not sound like much but ,for me, I think it was a major achievement today.

I was able to concentrate, coordinate and remember enough to be able to type a Braille alphabet for the first time.

Needed a LONG rest after it but who cares.

It has only taken a year and a bit!!!

Lovenhugs

Hi Alan,

I don't think we have spoken before here on Headway, although I have read some of your posts on other sites that we are both members of.

I was sorry to read about your memory problems on the AOD site.

I have a friend with Alzheimers who was only recently fully diagnosed after several months of symptoms and tests. They did not give a definite diagnosis until after his positive brain scan results. I am surprised that they could give this indication after only symptoms and a bloodtest - is this a new method ?

My friend is mid stage but still able to live at home with carers who come to prompt his medication taking ( he is diabetic type 2 ), meals service and some help from my partner and I. He is quite content and comfortable at home with his dog for company.

I have short term memory and concentration problems as a result of what appeared to be a brain infection a while ago, so I understand that it can be scary and frustrating when you first experience it. As I have grown used to it I find that it no longer upsets me so much and people are happy to make allowances for my difficulties : )

Wishing you all the best,

Kind regards, Angela x

Wow, Random,

You are bi lingual ! That is just fab and the long time coming and the long rest afterwards is a testimony to your patience, effort and determination : )

Definitely a 'ten from Len' and a gold star * from me !

Who cares if we are the tortoise rather than the hare - we will get there in the end ! : )

Loving the play on words in the title too : )

Take care,

Angela x

Thanks . it felt really good. Now we get stuck in to all the sort of shorthand and symbols ........ At least it's another target to aim for.

It did wipe me out but the upside of that was it was a good excuse to get the hubby to take me out for our evening meal.

Had the best keep for ages and woke up still high on the achievement.

Thanks everyone.

It feels really good to have your appreciation of the achievement as being an achievement.

It came as such a shock to me that I actually did it after over a year of trying.

Ever onwards and upwards.

Thanks again

Lots of lovenhugs to you all

Well done, the sense of achievement must be wonderful boost.

For two years, I struggled with the simplest thing - using the shower head that is attached to the bath taps to clean the bath. Then putting it back on the stand, flipping the lever back to the taps, put the plug in and turn on the hot water.

Could I do it in that sequence no way, the number of times I put the shower head back on the stand and then turned the taps back on - squirting water everywhere. Two years it took me .......
