Interactive metrenome

Has anyone experience of using this?

Dick's balance and eye co ordination are quite bad, & it was suggested that interactive metronome might be helpful.

Not something I know about so any response will be helpful

Hi there I googled it and it came up with this web site.

interactivemetronome.com/

it looks good, but probably expensive!

Good luck

I have experience of it via a client of mine and it has proved beneficial for him and he is going to continue it. The results speak for themselves in his case. By all means do get in touch if you need any more info as I have good contacts with the company who offer the IMT.

I assume Dick has had physo?

I responded well beyond my expectations, within two months I'd gone from someone who's walking was slow 1mph or less and unsteady to a fast confident walker, (4mph) if i'm very tired i can feel a very mild differnce in my walk and i'm still wobbly once I can't see.

But the differnce is dramatic.

The interactive metrenome looks good but I guess with out trying it you'll not know. The physo had me doing some computer games controlled by foot plates. was quite fun attaully!

He had physio whilst in rehab, but nothing for his balance issues since coming home.

We have been doing balance games on the Wii fit at home which are good fun, but I've heard really good things about IM.

Depends whether we can get funding help as it seems quite expensive

I had a bit, until insurance cut me, for lack of progress. At the time, I was taking a lot more medicine, and wasn't as aware, so that's probably the reason why I was unable to make any progress. This was about 10 years ago, and I can't exactly remember the sessions. I think that mine, dealt wt mostly reaction speed, and impulse control, using my weaker arm, and leg. What I do recall, is having to hit a foot pedal, and also doing something wt my hand, when I heard a specific noise. I would hear reinforcing sounds, when I hit the correct device, and a lower annoying lower pitch noise when I missed or hit the wrong device. Nowadays I play Lumosity games, everyday, for free. Games like Speed Match, and Color Match, help you in much the same way, by helping your timing, impulsive behavior, and speed. I keep a spreadsheet, of my scores, and games change everyday, when you're playing it for free. Still the next time, I get either one of those games, I will try to play them a few rounds, just using my weaker left hand at first. As long as you hit play again, your score is not entered. I know that my ability using my left hand is largely impaired, but perhaps playing using my left hand, will improve, my overall attention, time, and impulse control. I think it will!

Sorry for the delay in responding. There is a company based in Frome - Krysalis Consultancy. You may want to get in touch with them regarding IMT therapy - it's something they specialise in. If you liaise with Jo Thrope (she is one of the Directors) she will be more than happy to provide whatever information you may need. By all means to mention my name (Hannah) to her!
