Does hypoxic brain damage show up on CT/MRI or EEG scans at all? anyone know?
Hypoxic brain damage: Does hypoxic brain damage show... - Headway
Hypoxic brain damage
I've got this injury and I've had all these scans. The neurologist advised me that my partial lobe was damaged which is to do visual and touch perception. This is true for me because I got problems with my vision and touch sensation! EEG is mainly used to check for epilepsy. Hope this helps!

Interesting question - I've had 3 scans now 1st last March, then September and now and still waiting to know what and where! Perhaps I'll find out Wednesday when I have appt with new Dr for result 3rd scan 3 weeks ago, I' 1st 2 scans I have on CD's sent to me by original hospital. 3rd one done diff hospital in new area.ll let you know what I find out. Think my BI is just down to aneurysm and brain haemorrhage - not hypoxic damage, I just don't know anything!
I'm not a medical person but would the brain bleed cause mainly local symptoms and the hypoxia caused by low levels of oxygen in the blood or heart not circulating the blood properly or impaired airway would affect the whole brain and therefore symptoms for all areas of the brain?
Mine does not show up on MRI but it was taken months after the event. Apparently the best time is within the first 24-48 hours.
It depend on the severity. Eeg will be a better up on an mri, but the most helpful thing you can do is get neuropsychological testing done.. Well if your neuropsychologist is going to be fair at least.
