That's a hard question to answer as there are people with very high levels who don't have any symptoms and others with lower levels and awful symptoms and visa versa. My symptoms are chronic fatigue mostly and pains in my liver but I'm not sure when my next venesection will be yet because of covid19. I have liver disease as iron stored in my liver too and cannot wait to start treatment again. If you are worried, call your GP or consultant. I think the higher your levels are the more at risk you are. Mine were 2571, and I have had 5 venesections, one each week just before lockdown. My levels went down to 800 and something in that short time but I feel like they have shot back up again because of how I am feeling now. It is a worry but please call GP so you can put your mind at rest a bit. I am going to call mine tomorrow. Take care.

2571 to 800 in 5 VSs. Sounds impressive.

I took 16 VSs to get from 730 to 51 (Ferritin)

Each VS took 500g of blood.

I would suggest that you cannot rely on symptoms to determine when venesection is needed! It would be unwise to rely on symptoms.

The blood tests are easy, cheap and reliable so why rely on symptoms.

Stay safe.
