Finger Nail Changes

Can anybody tell me if my finger nails look the correct colour ? They are all the same with a white patch in the middle I have ridges going down them and some pitting on some nails too. ( Undiagnosed currently but under a rheumatologist for severe muscle pains but trying to widen my search for myself ) Thankyou for looking ( I was tested for Haemochromatosis quite a few years ago which was negative but they didn’t test if I was a gene carrier and with my Mother and my Grandma both having Haemochromatosis I thought this route would be worth looking into. Thanks

First, you should get the blood tests- iron panel etc. For ferritin and sat %. Etc.

I'm not sure about the nails. Lateral lines are historical growth measures. So they indicate something that happened in the past. Is it the same on the fingers as well?

There is plenty of info on nails on the inet. The NZ dermnet is a very good source of pictures.

Usually any iron issues would show up as a continuous vertical black line. ie from front to back of thumb nail.

Sorry for not being more helpful.

Good luck.

Hey there! I just found your post through a google search - sorry I’m replying 5yrs late! My nails are exactly like yours and I have severe muscle issues (weakness, aching, loss of muscle). I’ve been diagnosed with severe ME and POTS (bedbound unfortunately) but people can be misdiagnosed so I’m always looking for clues in case it’s something else that actually has a cure! Did you ever get to the bottom of what was going on for you? Thanks so much x
