Hi feeling a bit anxious, I am 48 and postmenopausal due to chemo for breast cancer. I have been having lower pains in back and tummy, then suddenly had heavy bleeding, not having had a period for over two years. GP sent me for scan and had biopsy as womb lining has thickened. Waiting for results, is anyone else in this position

postmenopausal bleeding

Hi lissielou,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. We often get an enquiry like this at Ask Eve, where like yourself, a lady is postmenopausal and is experiencing what we call abnormal bleeding. It can be a scary place waiting for results can’t it , especially since you have had to go through the ordeal of cancer treatment as well.
We suggest talking to your breast care nurse to see if she/he can help , and please let us know if you need any more advice or information. Our email address is nurse@eveappeal.org.uk and our free phone number is 0808 802 0019.
Best Wishes,
The Ask Eve Team
Hi Lissielou, i have a similar story. im 50 now and had breast cancer 6 years ago. Ive recently had a bleed which lasted 2-3 days. Went to doc and was fast tracked to gynae. I have a lining on my womb which is caused by the tamoxifen ive been taking. Had a biopsy took and thankfully if showed nothing. Had CA125 bloods took which came back high. I was advised that everytime i bled i would require a biopsy and blood tests to rule out anything sinister. Other tests revealed cysts on my ovaries. Saw the doctor yesterday and im now waiting for a hysterectomy
