Just how many coeliac's do you know? I have not met any for years how about you?
How many individuals with Coeliacs do... - Gluten Free Guerr...
How many individuals with Coeliacs do you know?
I know one other, and she's been a huge help and support to me since my diagnosis - as has everyone on this forum!
Met three others on holiday cruise ship last week. Out of 1100 passengers, statisitically there should have been more....
Amazed one guy as I knew about the varying situation with regard to scripts in Lothian...
Apricot (with sun tan)
last hospital admission (cardiac ward) 8 beds, 3 of us were coeliacs. The ward sisters little boy.
My aunt, my 13 year old grandson - just diagnosed, my friends stepdaughter!
Cafe, cashier at Morrisons supermarket LOL, my doctors mother! That all I can think of at the moment. (is Apricot from Wellfoods?)
2 coeliacs and 2 gluten intolerant people in real life. All at my workplace.
There is also a lad that claims he is a coeliac because his sister is diagnosed but eats gluten all the time with no ill effects and has never been tested.
Just one.....
I must attract them like moths to a flame! Yes, I do have my web site, but locally and in my family between Celiacs, gluten intolerants and true gluten allergies... I can name 21 right off the top of my head.
Actually, I just remembered the people from Facebook ... that's another 8
I met a few people on a cruise last summer and the sister of a friend of my sister who I met at her sister's wedding. The wedding breakfast was made easy as the meal was created to include her and she could help. In my immediate circle of friends I don't know of any which is why I find this site so helpful
About 2 that's it, chatted to a guy working in costa and he was celiac and was trying tp push them to do savoury snacks as well as brownies, without much luck.
I see starbucks are doing filled GF rolls.
Just booked a holiday in tenerife at a hotel where they have a GF fridge full of food in the dining room, highly recommended by non GF friend, I will report back after hols.
For a long time I only knew 4 (2 from same family), then I was diagnosed, then my auntie also was diagnosed, and since then I hear of new coeliacs/gluten intolerants most weeks. And all of my friends who work in the medical world (hah! they're all nurses, few doctors...what does that tell you?) talk about it all the time as though it a very common issue which they have to deal with all the time. I can't believe the difference in service when you eat out - almost everywhere you go, even if it's not on the menu the staff will either bring you the special GF menu, or the chef will come out him/herself to speak to you! To me that speaks volumes. And most times when I am in a cafe I hear other people coming in and specifically requesting GF options. It seems very apparent that the numbers of people finding they have issues with gluten is growing.
Hi all
Have not posted before but have used the site as a useful support tool and thank you all for your information and advice. Both my 13 year old son and my husband are coeliac and I have come across several people in our community, school workers, friends of friends but have not been able to find a support group locally especially for my son. If anyone can put me in touch with any teenagers who would like to be in touch with my son, we are in the Redbridge area (East London/Essex), We have had a very difficult journey over the past two years with my son's health and very poor management of his care; have learnt everything ourselves with the help of sites likes this and from other coeliacs on-line. I am working with Health locally to raise awareness and look forward to the time when this condition is more understood, not just the physical side but the emotional impact too!
I know 2, and I'm borderline.
