although my husband is a bit of a plain eater I have mastered his GF diet we all eat the same food 90% of the time I can't remember the last time I made cakes and pastry that wasn't Gluten Free. I have certain shops where I buy certain products and they are all General Supermarkets no need for health food shops and complicated ingredients.
Would it be a good idea to have some... - Gluten Free Guerr...
Would it be a good idea to have some kind of link to this web site for people to post recipes etc so we can all help each other.
sounds good I made a small bowl of butter icing for my snack naughty.
Hi Loobylou123 - the Health Unlocked site is not setup to behave like you have suggested plus, although coeliac disease is managed by proper diet this facility is setup to answer and share any type of health issues people may have that are associated with having CD.
However we love to find, try and share recipes as well. When we did this on our Facebook page we found that with new posts being made the recipes slipped down the wall and couldn't be located easily. We then moved to creating a Discussions/Forum area where people could post there favourite recipes but found that text isn't very exciting and people prefer to be able to view a finished dish.
Along came Pinterest which we love. It's a simple to use application which allows you to quickly pin recipes that you come across and feel you would like to cook or you can take a snap of some of your cooking, upload that simply and type down your recipe.
The pictures associated with captured pins allow the person looking at the board to click on the picture to be take to the web page that the link was captured from.
We've been busy on GFG creating recipe boards to cover all types of meal as we know what a struggle it is to find some inspiration.
We have also captured ideas for Christmas (in fact we just won a prize for our glutenfree christmas board!) and also have a board with links to the main supermarkets and manufacturers so you can view which of their products are gluten free.
Here's a link for you to have a look around. pinterest.com/gfguerrillas/
It would be great if you shared your recipes on Pinterest and we, and others, could start to pin them. Also whilst you are on there type 'gluten free' in the search bar and stand back in amazement at the incredible amount of recipes that displays.
Hi Irene, Thanks for this info. I folowed the link, signed up and was asked to choose five links to follow, but none referred to GF recipes. Can you help please?
Hi SDM , sorry for delay but I've only just spotted your response. I think what's happened is that you actually Signed up to Pinterest (which wasn't actually necessary but it's opened up a whole world for you!) and were then taken through the intro which gets you to follow 5 boards to familiarise yourself with the site.
If you click the link here pinterest.com/gfguerrillas/ you will be taken straight to our Pinterest page. You don't need to join up or sign in. You'll see our first five boards displayed and then, when you scroll down the page, you'll see the numerous boards we have set up with GF recipes for every occasion. Please have another look.
thank you I will def take a look I just know how daunting it can be for someone who has been recently diagnosed, I was there once upon a time.
Hi, I had a look at the pinterest and was very disappointed to find that it's mainly adverts
Yes I agree, needs to be more personal. Maybe I can start one my son is good with the technical stuff. it just frustrates me I have found so many recipes that are Gluten Free anyway, have had eight years of looking, loads of cook books, and am brave enough to experiment and share my experiences, especially with the pastry lol
Wow jillp - ads ? Really? We've never spotted adds on Pinterest - what link are you looking at? The great thing about Pinterest is that unlike Facebook it's still ad free. Such a joy.
Fiona, it was a link from on here because, not being very computer savvy I'd never heard of Pinterest and so clicked on the link from here.
