Might be a silly question, but what is the difference, if any? If you are eating dairy free, can you eat goats cheese for example?

Difference between Dairy free and Lactose free?
This article gives a summery of the differences. livestrong.com/article/3472...
Some people can digest goat's milk more easily than cow's milk.
Cheese has got less lactose than milk because of the fermentation process, so some people can eat a little, even if they are lactose intolerant.
Hi CC, goats cheese contains lactose but many people who have a reaction to cows milk are OK with goats milk. This is because it is very similar to human milk so is easier to digest than cows milk, which is much bigger molecularly. So it depends on why you're dairy free.
I drink Arla lactose free milk which's cows milk that has had the lactose removed/reduced and lactate added to aid the digestion of the lactose. I find this much easier to digest than normal milk.
I was reading last week how the Chinese have genetically modified cows to produce lactose free milk and human milk and they hope to have that on sale in 5 years!!!
