Each new diet takes time to get use to/worked out for each person. How are you feeling today? Have you talked with your doctor about the results/how it is going?

I'm feeling constipated but it's not that which is causing the problem

There is a bit of a theory that all autoimmune disease begins in the gut, not just coeliac disease, but between your coeliac disease and other auto-immune conditions, it suggests your gut is in poor condition. You would benefit from following a gut healing diet (clever guts and gut makeover have some good tips).

If you are up for a challenge though, you can look into auto-immune paleo (or whole 30, which is a similar but slightly less restrictive diet), which cuts out most inflammatory foods for a month, and just gives your body a chance to heal. They are really restrictive though...

Hi and thanks for that link Cooper27. I read up on it and don't think I'd be able to do it. With my diabetes especially

Oh course! It is a tough diet, and if you have to be flexible with food for diabetes it would probably be a bit more complicated. The gut healing books would still be useful, I think. It's more about adding in gut healing food items, as opposed to cutting out things.

Hi Sid

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. Perhaps you could post a list of foods you eat in a typical day, we may be able to suggest some causes or changes you could try (?)

If you want to read about the Autoimmune Protocol, this blog is a useful place to start.

Hi Penel and thanks for that link. It's interesting but very strict🙈...the problem for me would me eliminating so many items would give me problems with my diabetes and hypos.

Have you tried a low carb diet for your diabetes?

Do you think my diabetes may be playing a part? I did at first until I was diagnosed with coeliac

Hi Sid

I don’t know enough about diabetes to advise you, but I think that you need to be careful not to eat too many ready made gf products, including bread, as they tend to be high GI.

The Clever Guts diet that Cooper has recommended might be worth looking at.
