Are Heinz beans and sausage ok? The L... - Gluten Free Guerr...

We've got lots of manufacturer gluten free lists on our Forum area of our Facebook page. Here's link to the Heinz products for the UK that are gluten free. We were suprised by the amount of products they produce, includes Weightwatchers and Amoy. We cut and pasted so you can see by Name and product type: apps.facebook.com/forumforp...
I'm quite shocked at the response of folk on here to finding out that these products are GF. Are none of you members of the coeliac society? It would appear that many of you are missing out on loads of safe food that aren't in the 'freefrom' section of the supermarket and grossly overpriced.
Indigestible carbohydrates/fibre plus gut bacteria equals gas.
i found out beans and sausages were gf when buying them for my son who is not gf .now i have them.makes a change.
There is a coeliac UK society which sends it's members a directory of safe foods in supermarkets and also offers it's members an online directory to use as well. They also have lots of information etc about coeliac disease. I thought this site was predominantly a UK site....something new is learnt everyday
these are really good!! not 1 single fault in the gluten sense. perfect for lunch time at work in a jacket potato
I agree with poster about Coeliac UK. They were a real help to me when I was first diagnosed and there are lots of other helpful sites like Glutafin who list a lot of recipes. I learnt to cook myself as I was frustrated with what you could buy at an inflated price in the shops. I was amazed at what cakes you can make without wheat, including Black Forest Gateaux (Mainly eggs and cocoa), meringues, custard tarts, etc-you never know till you try!
I've just discovered by myself that modified maize starch seems to be setting me off and unless the packing says the product is gf then not to trust it.
I know maize is corn but it turns out even this when modified can cause a problem for those following a strict gf diet.
3 products in the last 24 hrs and the only ingredients in the 3 products that are the same was this and with each product i had burning lips, lumping my throat feeling and swelling among suddenly feeling very tiered.
these products where Patak's korma sauce, baked beans and ketchup.
Kh78 have you ever been tested for intolerance to tomato, latex or banana? Oral allergy syndrome can cause the issues you've mentioned in the products you cited. Many of those products (eg Heinz ketchup & beans) are classified as low gluten (less than 200pm of gluten) or gluten free which is why it could be something else causing your symptoms.
