Does anyone else find online food shopping really difficult? I don't have a car and like to buy in bulk as often as I can so when I broke my foot and was on crutches for 3 months I discovered online shopping. The trouble is I find searching for gluten freen items really difficult; search for 'Gluten free' (or similar) and it brings up any product with Gluten in the description, even if it's telling you it contains gluten!! Of course you can't see this until you click on the item to see the full details.
Does anyone have an easy solution to gluten free online grocery shopping??

hi antonia there is a site called juvella witch you can buy from they only do gluton free i have my bread ect from them on perscreption and they sell any thing just type it in serch box aslso glutafin as well best luck xx
Hi Antonia, I'm sorry that you've broken your foot, as for online shopping Goodness direct have been around for ages and many coeliac shop on line with them also there's a new kid on the block the ''wheatfree bakery direct'' and their goods are highly rated by other coeliac. Also Amazon sell some gf foods.
I shop online and in the end I printed out the favourites/usually bought items list that the supermarket builds for you and went through it to check each item, using the info on the supermarket website, manufacturers websites and Coeliac UK's food directory. It was a time-consuming job!
Some supermarkets include a list on their website of their own-brand products with info about whether they are GF or not - eg, Sainsbury's:
I still had to read labels when the shopping actually arrived and I was using things, but over the last couple of months I have now got to a point where I know which items on my shopping list are GF and which ones are only for the rest of my family.
Would use the C-Uk Food and drink directory...and then shop on line.
This is how I managed when I was in plaster. I live alone...so was totally dependent on on line shopping. Highlight of the week was the delivery man arriving with goodies....
Have reason to believe that Juvela is only available on Prescription...
You can buy juvela online, they offer cereals cakes etc that aren't availabe on prescription just incase you were wanting to try some of there products.
I shop online with Asda and find it quite difficult to get nutritional info even AFTER I have chosen a particular item to look at more closely....I tried to get info about various crisps and could not even get the calorie/fat info let alone gluten/not gluten.
I usually only buy what I already know, however this can
A) be restrictive and
B) the availability of some products change and any possible alternatives are poorly marketed online by this supermarket (in my opinion)
Very true Antonia the search engines are often rubbish on big supermarket sites - it's amazing what gluten free brings up! Have you tried ocado or the main GF sites that Jerry has mentioned?
