I was at an event over the weekend and heard of two developments in coeliac disease that might be of interest:
1 - a vaccine that to reverse coeliac disease. I heard this failed the second round in clinical trials and had been discontinued, but apparently they're adapting it and continuing with their work.
2 - a twice a day tablet that would allow sufferers to eat gluten as normal. Potentially coming to the market in the next 2 years.

I think for many it would be scary to risk eating gluten again. I think it would just be nice if you could take something to get rid of the fear of cross-contamination though, so you can socialise in restaurants fear-free.
I heard that the vaccine trial had been abandoned (disappointment of the year) but you have thrilled me with the news that the other pills might be available in 2 years. The difference this would make to travelling and eating out is immense. Would they be prescription only and are they in stage 2 trials? Thanks
That's interesting, thanks. I don't know if that pill is the specific one, as it wouldn't do away with the need to follow a gluten free diet. It mentioned this one, and I wonder if this one might be the pill I'd heard about:
Not for me I'm afraid. I'm suspicious of new treatments especially where there's big profits to be made. We all know that the gluten free diet is the way to go at the moment and I'd reckon it'll be decades before there's anything on the market we can trust.
