Hi

I've just been diagnosed with coeliac disease and don't have the usual upset stomach type symptoms but do suffer from a spasm type feeling in my chest along with a cough. Does anyone else have this?

Hi - my main issue was a cough I had for 20 odd years. I had all the tests done for my cough but they didn't find a cause, just put it down as idiopathic but it got so bad as my chest would go into spasms, I ended up doing my own research. Lo & behold I had coeliacs & that was eventually confirmed in the usual way and my cough cleared up! I did have a bit of an iffy tummy at the time, but nothing like the pain some coeliacs suffer. My chest is still my weakest link, but a thousand times better. Good luck in your recovery.

Thanks so much for replying. I feel better now I know I'm not the only one with these symptoms. Medics doubted anything to do with coeliac which hasn't helped stress levels.

Many thanks again.

Don't worry re the medics, my GP still won't agree the cough had anything to do with gluten, even tho result was clear to see & indeed hear! There is no doubt it was the gluten causing it.
