As far as I know here in the uk celiac is diagnosed if you are Marsh 4 in biopsy, but you can still have 1-3 and not be officially celiac. Also prof Mario from Sheffield recognises gluten sensitivity symptoms in gluten ataxia through cerebellum spectrometry without Villi degradation. They also are developing blood tests for transglutamase diagnosis but this is not yet available

There is no specific test for non-Coeliac gluten sensitivity as far as I know.

It was a good few years ago I had a test for Coeliac or Gluten, can't remember which, as everytime I had bread I could hardly walk and had terrible gut probs. I had avoided wheat and gluten for several years but a doctor gave me a blood test which came back negative. It was not until 2 years later I found out you have to be consuming wheat/gluten for the test to work!! I Treat Doctors with a great deal of suspicion now.

My daughter had a food intolerance test. It’s a requisition through her dr taken to a Dynacare Lab. They test for 200 foods and she came back with 77 foods out of the 200 wheat being one of them. Shortly after she tested positive for Celiac through another blood test. The food intolerance test was $325 and I believe you can have done through a pharmacy here in Canada . Don’t know about the UK or US

I think you can have this test done privately by post in the UK

Best way to test for food intolerances is through exclusion diet. Even food testing is unreliable. Give it up and restart keeping a food and symptom diary.

Also if it's wheat you are sensitive to look at FODMAP intolerance as this can cause awful GI symptoms. I have this.

Can you have a sensitivity to gluten which will cause slow down in height in children/teenagers?

Being Coeliac can certainly affect growth in children. Not sure if there is any research on this for non-Coeliac gluten sensitivity, but perhaps it could be a possibility.

Hi, I paid for the Cyrex Array 3 test available through the Pure Health Clinic. Rather expensive, but I was reluctant to go via the G.P. as the NHS test is limited and I wanted to be sure. It's a bit hard to navigate the site, but you could contact Micki Rose for advice:

I hope this helps.
