Frustrating to have to wait so long.

However because you've had them done, you can go gluten free any time you like! You are now free to experiment with your diet to your heart's content.

Then when you do get your results, you will have comparisons to discuss with the doctor. You have little to lose - because if the results come back as negative you can choose to reintroduce gluten again if you wish.

However, do be aware of the risk of vitamin deficiencies on a GF diet. GF foods aren't fortified in the same way that gluten foods are!

For me the decision was easy to make as I'd had a positive Coeliac blood test. I went gluten free the day after my endoscopy. Luckily I only had to wait about 10 days for my results.

I hope you get your answer soon.

Hi there thanks for replying. I already started removing all wheat/gluten the day after my procedure and feeling a lot better apart from some migraines still. Been having an awful time the last year and a half with my digestion with reflux and abdominal pain so bad that even if it was negative I'll never go back to it. I was just concerned it could be something serious like cancer but I guess they might have seen something initially. I'm already iron and folate deficient and on a bunch of pils for these. Great not having any pain and bloating anymore I'm starting to feel like a new person! X

I'm glad you're feeling an improvement.

Besides the obvious deficiencies, look out for deficiencies in trace minerals (Selenium, magnesium etc).

I speak from experience here - I was borderline magnesium deficient 6 months after going gluten free. To be fair, I think that this was probably caused by my having coeliac disease rather than the diet.

It's just something to consider if you continue to get unexplained symptoms.

I'll make an appointment with the doctor and have all these checked out soon. I'm still waiting on being seen by an allergist because I have other allergic problems going on with nickel and unknown stuff. Been waiting months for it all. Thanks ☺

Hi Libby I had my tests at end of May and was told I had coeliac in August. However, like you, i cut the gluten the day after the tests.

Bad news travels fast and I think of any cancer was found you would hear. Glad you are feeling much better. Good luck - it's a steep learning curve as gluten is hidden in lots of products.

Wow that was a long time to wait for results! Glad that you're on the mend now. I think it's just to have peace I mind so I can move on and finally close this horrible chapter of my life. I've had to pretty much stop everything and leave my job because I've been so ill. Every time I ate anything with wheat a while after I would get a panic attack and have some serious dizziness. I couldn't even move my hands properly like my fine muscles weren't working if you know what I mean. Pins and needles in my feet arms and wrists along with numbness. I had no idea what was happening and it took me a long time to realise the connection. Now nothing! I'm amazed its happened so quickly. Thanks 😊 xx

Hi. I had my endoscopy done about 10 years ago and they gave me the results there and then by the doctor that performed the test. Told me it was definitely CD. I did have to wait for a while to get my follow up appointment with the gastro consultant though. Hope you get your results soon x

My results took two weeks, but because I had them done in the 'big trailer' on a B&Q carpark, if done at our local hospital it would've taken six weeks!

Stop worrying about them (easier said than done!) every hospital trust is different in the amount of time they take for results, unfair to wait, I know. The good thing is that you are feeling better for going GF.
