Hello. wondering who has cut gluten out totally of their diet if you have hashimoto's with climbing antibodies. Wondering if anyone has had their disease go into remission?

I don't know if it is the gluten free diet or taking selenium but my TPO antibodies in January last year were 904 and recently tested were at 450. Still high but somehow managed to bring them down. I have been gluten free for about 2 years despite occasional accidents when eating out. Are you part of the Thyroid UK forum on here? Really worthwhile.

Best

Hello Helen. Yes i just joined although i am a US citizen. It seems as though people who cut out dairy and gluten do better when their thyroid disease stems from auto immune like mine. I am thinking of doing a trial with banning dairy and then gluten for a month or two and see how i feel then introduce it back. I have always had food sensitivities very bad and never knew the reason. I want to try the pale diet, but the only protein that is not plant based i consume is chicken and turkey here and there or fish so that maybe hard considering i eat vegetarian most days. My TSH has finally started staying down due to treatment, but my symptoms are horrid still mostly and my peroxidase and Thyr. antibodies both keep climbing still.

Ah I can't face going dairy free as well - gluten free is just about manageable! It did help a lot with symptoms :-) I also take a ton of supplements cos I don't eat a lot. They all help too

Thank you ritabyford2015 & helen_m! I started taking very strong pharmaceutical omega 3 to help with vascular stuff and depression before i was diagnosed. I take a lot of magnesium citrate which helps with a lot, especially anxiety, energy and insomnia. High dose of vitamin D3 because as you all may know people are very deficient now a days in magnesium and Vit D to begin with and people with hashi's are known to have a much harder time keeping Vit D, B12 and iron/ferritin up. I take a multi vitamin/mineral that has large doses of the B vitamins too. I buy Garden of life Raw protein to help with protein level which also has probiotics and enzymes needed for our guts. I only take it a few times a week though because it is expensive. I put wheatgrass in my smoothies once in awhile to detoxify my system. Magnesium baths in hot water at least 2xs a week because that detoxes and removes heavy metals. My newest additions are collagen protein to help rebuild me, again not every day due to cost. And waiting on Iron supplements (because my iron/ferritin was low, turmeric supplements to help with the inflammation and selenium to help with thyroid function. Honeslty I hate taking so much but anything to help I guess. Cut out processed stuff a few years ago and sugar, not that i ate a lot. Gave up my occasional alcoholic beverages and no caffeine as well except natural loose leaf green tea. one of my brothers is a nutritionalist and i have done a lot of research and reading.auto immune disease is a horrible thing!!!!!
