Allergic to various food

I'm allergic to tapioca, barley, peanuts, coffee. I develope rashes around my lower ribs. Sometimes unaware that the food contains it especially tapioca starch I will get it. Usually the itch can last more than a month. Even taking allergy pill don't help. So the only medicine is to avoid it.

Do you keep a logbook of time food it taken versus time symptoms appear?  I find I've become "allergic" to all sorts of stuff but the reaction is usually delayed 6 to 24 hours.

The worst for me is photosensitivity, where I need to avoid sunlight.

I still get gluten or dairy contamination occasionally and the logbook helps to identify the source.

The strangest was anything malted i.e. Vinegar.  But also wine made in a traditional method.

Hi pvanderaa, there is gluten in malt vinegar and not many coeliac societies recommend it as safe for coeliac, I can't tolerate malt vinegar and nor can lots of coeliac.

And wine they sometimes use wheat gluten based finings or clarifier and if the wine is aged in a wooden barrel a wheat based glue is often used to seal the barrel. There would only be traces so well within codex.

So its not strange really that you have a reaction to these in my opinion.

hey..I didn't get rashes..but I have similar kinda issues. My stomach usually gets upset or there is a pain if I eat outside..especially the food with gluten. I know this and this happens quite usually...but cant resist...I just love outside food!
