I hope you can help. I am a coeliac and recently I have had two nasty reactions to cross contamination weeks apart but the results were nothing like I ever experienced before. Is this a sign of a worsening condition or is it because I have been of gluten for over 8 months and I have shocked my body. I suffered extreme fatigue and I was violently ill for hours. It took me two days to recover. This was not the norm for me It usually only took one day and I was myself again. Please Help.
Thanks

It seems to take longer and longer when I am accidentally glutened. I don't get back to normal for months now. Eleven years on gluten free diet. The malabsorption lasts forever.
The longer you are gluten-free, the less antibodies to gluten you have in your system - so the stronger you react to each gluten exposure.
I've also experienced symptoms pretty similar to those you describe. In my case it took me around 10 days to recover - and felt a little like having flu combined with a nasty stomach bug. The first 48 hours were the worst.
Accidents do happen, however careful you try to be. I think of it as a trade-off for feeling better the rest of the time.
I hope you're fully recovered now.
When I was diagnosed I was told by my consultant that the longer I was GF the more sensitive I would get to gluten and this has proved to be true. Fortunately my reaction is not debilitating but I now know within a few hours if I've eaten gluten.
I also have coeilacs disease, but also got very tierd and still in pain, it turns out after lots of dr visits and test, that i have fibromyalgia as well which explains fatigue, fog head, pain all over, maybe you should get your gp to look into this Good Luck xx
Yes, I am much more sensitive now than when initially diagnosed. In fact I suspect I went undiagnosed for years and my- then mild- symptoms were put down to other things.. (IBS etc)
